Belarus Delegation visits Georgia
Within the frame of the "Waste Governance - European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instruments (ENPI) East" regional project that includes seven countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine) - Belarus delegation arrived to Georgia on November 17 for a two-day visit.
The delegation included representatives of Belarus Ministries of Natural Resources and Communal Services and Housing, as well as the Head of Minsk Oblast Environmental Committee, Deputy Head of Puhovichy Rayon Executive Committee and ENPI East-Waste Governance project country coordinator.
The aim of the visit was to share experience, enhance cooperation and exchange information in the field of waste management between the countries. Guests assessed the current scheme of waste collection and transportation within Tbilisi municipality.
In order to present contemporary systems of landfill operation and get acquainted with the past practices and current operation, the delegation visited Tbilisi new landfill and Gldani Old (conserved) landfill. The delegation met with Georgian official representatives of the municipalities.
Moreover, in the project pilot region of Kvemo Kartli the delegation members were introduced the newly constructed and completely equipped Solid Waste Landfill of Rustavi and Gardabani municipalities that fully comply with EU standards.
