From April 4 to 9, Dubai.Ge, hosted Middle East and Asian travel agents to introduce Georgia as a tourism and cultural destination.

Travel agency representatives from Dubai, Kuwait, Iraq and India participated in the fact finding trip, which included visits to a number of historical sites, ski resorts and the Kakheti wine region where they were taught about local technology and production. The delegation also visited the ancient capital of Georgia, the city of Mtskheta, and today's capital, Tbilisi.

Dubai.Ge, flydubai's authorized distributor in Georgia, hopes that such visits will spur interest among international tourists to travel to Georgia, especially from Middle East and Asian markets. flydubai's regular scheduled flights have played a significant role in the growth of tourism transporting people from the UAE and its wider network, which focuses on connecting previously underserved destinations.

At the meeting with tour operators, Dubai.Ge's General Director, Lela Khazalia, said: "The importance to hold such tours was planned after observing that there is significant demand from Asian countries to visit Georgia. In addition, this trip allowed the agents to find out more about Georgia, enjoy its climate and use efficient visa regime, which is very attractive for travelers. I'd like also to note that after flydubai's entrance in the local market, flight connections to Middle Eastern countries increased and I hope that this tour will contribute to make Georgia a popular, "must see"  country."

The tour's organizers are also hoping that it will not only contribute to the economic growth of Georgia, but will promote two-way travel as well.

The travel agents travelled to Georgia on flydubai, which started operations to Tbilisi on 04 November 2011. It was the first airline to offer directs flights between the United Arab Emirates and Georgia.
