A press conference dedicated to the 12th Tbilisi International Film Festival (TIFF) will be held on December 2, 2011 at 13:30 in Tbilisi Marriott Hotel
TIFF General Director, Gaga Chkheidze, TIFF Director, Nina Anjaparidze, Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia, Diana Janse, as well as representatives of supporting organization will participate in the press conference. The Film Festival will traditionally present the latest and best works of the European, American and Georgian cinematography in Amirani Cinema. The festival will be opened on December 6 by film "Faust" directed by Alexander Sokurov (Russia) and closed on December 11 by film "V Subbotu - Innocent Saturday" directed by Alexander Mindadze (Russia / Germany / Ukraine).
The Festival will host film directors and producers from several countries: France, Estonia, Russia, Italy, Germany, the United States of America, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Israel and etc.
More than 60 films will be presented within the following programme:
The Festival is organized by the Prometheus Cinema Art Centre.
The Festival is supported by Tbilisi City Hall, the Embassy of Sweden in Georgia, the US Embassy in Georgia, the National Film Center, Goethe Institute of Tbilisi, the British Council, French Institute in Tbilisi, as well as business companies Outdoor.ge, DHL, Tbilvino, hotels "Tbilisi Marriott" and "Citadines", Magazine "Ckheli Shokoladi", radios "Muza", "Radio 1" and "Commersant", 1 channel, Kanal PIK, GMG, Journal "Tabula", ITV.
The Tbilisi International Film Festival (TIFF) is one of the most important cultural events in Georgia. It was founded by the Prometheus film arts centre in 2000. The goals of the Tbilisi International Film Festival (TIFF) are to provide unique opportunities for deeper understanding and appreciation of artistic cinema and to encourage, promote and inspire young filmmakers though professional encounters with world class artists and experts. Screenings, industry panels, master classes, retrospectives, and other showcases arranged each year actively support the talents and creative visions of young filmmakers. The Film Festival also seeks to establish TIFF as a meeting place for the South Caucasus filmmakers, international producers, sales agents and distribution companies.
Over the course of its existence, the festival has acquired great importance for the entire South Caucasus region. The aim of the festival is to introduce filmgoers to new film products of a high artistic value, highlight new trends in film and facilitate the development of Georgian film industry.
